ALEC opens Independent Chair recruitment process

The Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council (ALEC) has opened expressions of interest for the recruitment of an Independent Chair.

As the peak industry body for livestock exporters, ALEC represents businesses across the supply chain. The industry contributes an average of $1 billion to the Australian economy annually and is crucial to providing Australian livestock producers with market opportunities and competition.

Under the ALEC Constitution, the Chair is elected by the membership and can serve three consecutive two-year terms.

Board Member, and selection panel Chair, Ian Halleen said the incoming ALEC Chair will carry considerable responsibility, but it will be a great opportunity for the right candidate.”.

“The ALEC Chair has been a position that is much coveted within the Australian red meat industry. The organisation has benefitted from high calibre chairs over the years, whose independence from the day-to-day operations of the industry has been a valuable perspective in setting the correct strategy and standards for the industry.”

“The industry requires strong leadership and someone who will help set the direction for growing the industry into the future. I would encourage high calibre individuals that have keen interest in the future of Australian Agriculture to express their interest.
