ALEC is a member of the Red Meat Advisory Council which is a not-for-profit company representing the Australian red meat and livestock supply chain from ‘paddock to plate’.

RMAC’s membership includes all aspects of the beef, sheepmeat and goat meat value chain from production, feedlotting, processing, retailing, wholesaling and livestock and boxed product exporting.

Other members of RMAC are The Australian Lot Feeders’ Association (ALFA), The Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC), Cattle Council of Australia (CCA), Goat Industry Council of Australia (GICA) and The Sheepmeat Council of Australia (SCA).

RMAC’s operations are funded by the Red Meat Industry Fund, which was created by the Commonwealth Government in 1998 using unallocated levies from beef, sheepmeat & goatmeat producers and processors.

The Red Meat Industry Fund is designed to provide continued investment in RMAC Members and RMAC operations, as well as assistance in managing red meat livestock industry issues.
ALEC Chairman Simon Crean is a member of the RMAC Board, which is responsible for managing the investment and distribution for the Red Meat Industry Fund.
